Home Study FAQs

 

Q: How long is the course?
A: You will receive one year to complete the course, which will allow the learner to work at a pace that they feel comfortable with.

 

Q: When can I expect to receive my home study pack after I have paid?
A:
Your Home Study pack will be dispatched within 48 hours of receiving payment.  Please allow between 3-5 workings day within the UK, 3-10 working days (EU) and 3-21 days for rest of world. 

 

Q: What if I can't finish the course within one year?
A:
Simply email studentsupport@ion.ac.uk before your study year expires and we will be happy to extend your study time.

 

Q: Can I start the course at any time?
A: Yes
- There are no set dates to start the course. You will be given 1 year from the date of purchase to complete the course.

 

Q: Can I do the course if I live overseas?
A: Yes
- Anyone can undertake the Home Study course.

 

Q: I haven't studied for some years. Will I be able to do the course?
A: Yes
- The course is designed to be an enjoyable, educational experience. The audio and visual material will guide you through the course.  The pack also contains three additional books which will build on your knowledge as you work your way through the course.

 

Q: Are there any hidden costs?
A: No -
Everything needed is included in the Home Study pack and there are no additional charges for undertaking the final test.

 

Q: Is there an exam?
A: Yes, a test paper will be included in the pack.  If you wish to receive a certificate of completion you will need to return this paper within one year of starting the course.  If the learner fails on their first attempt we will let them know and provide a one-month grace period to apply for a second paper.

N.B. If you wish to take the exam your request must be made within one-year of purchase . You can contact ION for a time extension providing you contact us within your specified time frame.

 

Q: What qualifications will I gain?
A:
The Home Study Certificate of Completion is recognition that you have understood and successfully completed the course to ION’s standards.  The course does not provide any accreditation and does not provide credits towards any other course.  The certificate will not be regarded by ION or any other body as a means to set up in practice as a nutritional therapist. The Home Study is a self-learning programme and does not enter into nutritional therapy. It is designed to provide a good grounding into the fundamental principles of nutrition and health.

 

Q: What text books are included in the home study pack?
A:
New Optimum Nutrition Bible by Patrick Holford. The Complete Guide to Nutritional Therapy by Pierre Jean Cousin & Kirsten Hartvig. The Concise Human Body by Steve Parker.
